Kyanite


Kyanite is also called Australian Sapphire, but it is not included in the corundum family. The people give that term because its color and appearance is very similar to the sapphire corundum.   




The color of kyanite crystal are pale to deep blue, white, grey or green. Color distribution in crystal may be uneven, with darker blue patches toward the interior. The crystal have two hardness values, softer parallel to the direction of cleavage, and harder perpendicular to it.

Kyanite can be found in Burma, Brazil, Kenya, India, Australia, and several localities in USA.
